Charter Fishing Information
Charter boats are available on a half day and full day basis. The rates vary depending upon the type of fishing you prefer. I've listed a couple below who I have used along with a description of the type of fishing. It is always best to reserve your boat early! My recommendation is to contact Shore Details. Rene is a professional commercial fisherman and he knows all the charter boats.
Little Clam
Captain Patrick Caton
Patrick's boat is very comfortable for a large party. It's a modified commercial fishing boat that is all about bottom fishing. That means you'll catch a lot of grouper, black bass, triggerfish, and red snapper depending upon the time of year. If there is Mahi running Patrick is on it. He has a large container in the middle of the boat that he aims to fill! If you are here to catch tasty fish and a lot of it, Patrick is your man. Here is a video of our trip. That is my Dad catching a barracuda. It was a rough day on the water so the music is appropriate. It's called Whammer Jammer by J. Geils.
Custom Sound Charters
Captain Rick Caton
We fished with Rick during striper season and had a great time using live eel as well as plugs. We caught so many I lost count. Rick has a series of boats that are available. If you have a party of two and want a charter Rick is a great choice. He'll get you on fish and you'll have fun to boot. Great light tackle excitement! Here are some shots from our trip.
Another great trip that Rick offers is the Waterman Trip. It's a fantastic family outing! This trip takes the family through the sound and collects shrimp and small fish that are explored by the kids. It's very interactive and educational for all. It's also safe so small children will have no problems on the boat. What do you get out of it? How about enough shrimp to feed an army, some nice fresh flounder and some crabs! Excellent time and safe water.
The Chaser
Captain Steve Jones
My family and I went out with Steve a few years ago and caught a bunch of tuna and mahi. It was a beautiful day and the ride was wonderful. The Chaser is a nice boat. It's comfortable for 6 adults without a problem. Steve fishes billfish in late summer. If you've never caught a billfish its worth every penny. This is not a good trip for kids or people who get sick easily.
